Does any one use self service dog washes?

If so, how much do you pay? How big is your dog? What do you find to be the pros and cons? What other services are offered?Does any one use self service dog washes?
The price depends on where you're self-service dog wash is located. Before moving to the coast six years ago, I used a dog wash in Napa, CA, about once a month. At that time, it cost $12. The price is now about $18, more if you use any additional services (i.e., having their personnel wash and/or dry your dog, brush him out, trim his/her nails or clean his/her ears). At this facility, the price includes a smock to keep you dry, a fabric collar-leash combination with a clip on it to facilitate tying the dog in the tub, your choice of shampoo, a conditioning detangler, ear clearer, nail clippers, towels, and a variety of combs and brushes. A quiet hair dryer is built into the wall near the counter and special tie-downs are located inside and next to the tub for dogs who prefer not to be bathed. Since I have a bad back and can't lean over for more than a few seconds, I found it extremely convenient to use the tubs, which put both of my dogs (a black Lab and a Golden Retriever) at waist height (I'm 5'6';). The business in Napa offers a variety of tub heights, plus a choice of stair walk-ups and ramp walk-ups. This makes it easy for owners of elderly or arthritic animals to get larger pets onto the counter and into the tub without having to pick them up. Believe me, that's next to impossible with a 90 lb. Golden Retriever! Another plus--you leave with a dry, shiny clean dog who can't run into the yard and roll in the dirt! The only con I can come up with is having a Golden Retriever shake when he gets out of the tub - and he's at chest heightl!Does any one use self service dog washes?
be careful when you take your dogs to these places, i have two yorkies and i NEVER take them to any grooming place. these places harm the dogs or hurt them when they dont stop barking. learn how to do everything your self. i do my dogs nails, ear trims, and anal glands....saves you money and you know your dog will not be hurt and traumatized.
i pay around $18.00 just for a bath then grooming runs me about $12.00 more. I love using this service because it saves me alot of time but not money. The pro's are : that you know your dog is properly bathed and groom you dont need to worry about any infections or rashes a dog might recive from a bath at home. Con: it does cost lots of money i take my dog there once a week for baths and once a month for grooming i have a 70lb labrador named scooter.

Self Service car wash?

New to this. First i soak the car with water and then i use the soap option. Then I use the foam brush and scrub the car. After that i use the rinse option.

I didn't want to try the wax option because I didn't know what to do. Like if I have used that option do i just spray it with the pressurized gun and then rinse it? or do i just leave and just dry it up with the cloth?Self Service car wash?
The switches are just to suck $$$ out of you. Soap first, brush the base and wheels if needed. the rinse. wax does little but eat up time. the Tire stuff is usually pretty good . Watch those quarters.Self Service car wash?
Wow, that's f'ed up Mark.

You can rinse the wax off and it will look good, but it will look better if you hand rub it. So either way.
You seem to have a good understanding of the operation, I use the wax sometimes and rinse it with water to prevent streaking as I just let it air dry.

Problem is in area where I live, self service costs me $10 and automated brush where I just sit in the car and watch is only $5. With a gas purchase I was going to make any way because their price is low!
I have found the beat option is the touchless laser wash. It really works well and dont touch the car. Be careful tho, it will blow off stripes if they have any loose spots at all! I really dont like using the brushes at car washes, too many people wash their engines, underside, children, whatever with that brush!
I use the soap spray first then take a bucket of water with me and a spoonge and hand wash the car and then rinse it off with the wax and then switch over to the clear rinse about halfway through the 3 minute cycle, does a great job, then take it outside and chamoy it off.

Automatic, self service or wash it your damn self car wash?

No touch automatic. Though sometimes I wash it myself, but I just seem to get all wet when I do that. Hmmmmmmm.Automatic, self service or wash it your damn self car wash?
Automatic unless it's really nasty, then it's self service. It's never wash it your damn self.........I'm too lazy for that.Automatic, self service or wash it your damn self car wash?
Usually automatic. however there are times I have the need to get wet so I do it myself!
wash it myself but of course I live in a apartment where I can't hand wash it myself so off to the car wash I go.
Wash it yourself.

That way I know it's clean and how I want it.
automatic.
What's the deal with washing your car? It rains probably ten or twelve times a year; isn't that enough? I'm not going to wash my car more than I do myself.

Looking for a self-service car wash in NYC?

I live in the Bronx, have never seen one. I know there are a few out in suburbia. If you know of any up in Westchester that would be good also.Looking for a self-service car wash in NYC?
You may want to go to Exxon (Boston Post Road, Pelham Manor). It's one of those automated self car-washes where you drive your car into the bay, put money in and the wash does its job.

If you want one with the brush handle and pure ';self - serve';, there is one in Mount Vernon not far from that Exxon station (turn onto Pelham Parkway in Pelham Manor, past where they are building a new shopping center and just over the drawbridge...the street turns into S. Fulton Avenue in Mt. Vernon. On the left hand side of the road (before a diner) there is a car wash like that.)Looking for a self-service car wash in NYC?

Why do people who go through a car wash, not a self-service one, throw their trash on the ground?

All the car washes that I know of, self-service or not, have trash cans available. Why such laziness in throwing it on the ground? It's not that much further to the trash can.Why do people who go through a car wash, not a self-service one, throw their trash on the ground?
You said it when you said ';laziness';. The world is full of people like that. Can't even walk a few extra feet. I've never been able to understand. They have little or no respect at all.Why do people who go through a car wash, not a self-service one, throw their trash on the ground?
Very true! We're getting lazier and lazier as a nation. I blame fast food. Fat clogs the arteries to the brain. LOL
